Ball, Books, and Dirt

Yesterday the kids pulled “Play with a Ball” out of the jar. Ivy said, “What kind of ball and how?” I said, “What do you think?” She decided on soccer in the back yard. We played until lunch. Then we talked about other games involving a ball. We wanted to play sand volleyball. South Fork Park in Union, KY has a court so we decided to go there in the evening.

We spent a couple of hours in late afternoon at the Scheben Branch of the Boone County Library in Union, KY. It’s a nice one. The adult nonfiction section was good-sized. Their play area in the kids section was adequate. Not one of the better I’ve seen but certainly not the worst.

After that we drove the short distance to the park. Unfortunately the court was in use. We played at the park in hopes that they may finish up. Ivy asked if we could go look at the nearby creek and walk the path through the woods. I agreed and the next thing I knew we were all giggling, walking across rocks, and getting dirty! If we would have left because the court was occupied we would have missed out on a lot of fun! Always be open to a change in plans!
